"what is a PCB?" a circuit board is one or more pieces of copper sheet electroplated on to a insulating substrate , commonly fr4 fiber glass. a design is masked onto the copper surface and the negative is chemically etched away leaving a positive print of the design ,
"i hear point to point wiring is better than printed circuit boards. True?" this is a common misconception and very subjective. the advantage of pcbs is repeatable results , over and over . with good design ethic , a circuit board can achieve the performance of point to point wiring. drip uses 3oz copper pcb’s , and often each circuit connection is 2-3 mm wide, over 20 times the needed copper for the electrical connections. most connections are curved in each design , inspired by designs from vintage neve products to mark levinson. each trace has excessive separation from surrounding traces.
"if dissatisfied, can the product(s) be returned for an exchange or refund?" drip does not accept returns on pcbs , but will do everything within reason to help you achieve satisfaction with your drip product.
"what is the difficulty rating for assembling these products?" some experience is needed , but support is part of the product. each drip pcb project requires some skill in soldering and some basic tools like a soldering iron , drill , screw drivers , clips and a multi meter (radio shack will do) etc. if making your own case it is best to have a drill press and a jigsaw. (pre-drilled cases are available by third party suppliers) most drip products have a 100 page manual to help with basic placement of parts and other assembly notes. no question is too small, a design forum has been created to help you get in touch with other builders along with asking important questions.
"what type of support is provided by drip electronics if necessary?" drip will be faithful to your needs through every step of the way. by email contact or posting in the new forum , drip will respond to your questions promptly. Click here to visit the forum.
"How do I purchase the product(s)?" please use the product section of the web site to order.
"Why do drip pcbs cost more than those floating around the inter-web?" the cost of research, prototypes, support and the high standards of manufacturing, drip needs to charge a bit more to give you a tested and proven product. often drip will acquire a working vintage unit in order to bring you a true duplication of performance .
"does drip do custom work?" absolutely , email for information .
"how do drip products compare to original units?" depending on the pcb , every step has been taken to give you a faithful reproduction. |
